How To Clean Bosch Cis Fuel Injectors
I've back flushed CIS injectors very successfully.
That doesn't hateful anybody has the patience or skill to do information technology without damaging them somehow.
I don't consider them a wear item like a "spark plug".
Final time I back flushed mine was effectually 3 years ago and I've washed it to these injectors twice now. If these are the original 1987 injectors they have a piffling over 130,000 miles on them now.
I never tried lacquer thinner because I've heard there's some kind of plastic or nylon fine mesh filter screen in there and I didn't want to have a chance on lacquer thinner perchance breaking them downwards and ruining them. I concur information technology would have been nice if the screen was in a threaded on department that could exist removed so y'all tin can run across it and clean it.
I took some pics last fourth dimension I did this...
With the injector held pintle up in a bench vice I gently grap the end of the spring loaded pintle with a hemostat and lift it upward off it's seat about 1/32" and wrap a strand of fine copper wire around it once to hold it open. Copper wire is much softer than the steel pintle and seat so it won't hurt them.
And so slide a piece of 8mm inside diameter hose over the pintle end of the injector and clamp it on with a hose clamp.
Then fill the hose with your solvent of choice and slide the hose on to an air gun.
Then nail 120psi of compressed air through information technology to back flush it and hopefully rinse whatever grime off the internal screen and shoot it out the threaded cease of the injector.
If y'all have time to soak the injectors in solvent for a while with the pintles wired open and pointing upwardly that tin can help besides.
When pulling the hose off the injector hold the injector tightly in your fingers with the copper wires betwixt your fingers and the side of the injector so when y'all pull the hose off information technology doesn't pull the copper wires with information technology and pull the pintle open more than than 1/16" to 1/32" and possibly damage the internal spring that holds the pintle close until 30 to 35 psi of fuel pushes it open up and it sprays.
Then put the pocket-size plastic straw on a can of carburetor cleaner into the inlet side of the injector and spray the solvent through information technology. There should be enough pressure in the tin can of carb cleaner to open the injector and spray the solvent through it then you can see if the spray is a nice round fine conical spray.
It worked existent well for me. The injectors spray a fine conical spray and the car idles smooth at 800 rpms and runs perfect all the time.
